Are you in a season of waiting? I believe that God takes us through seasons of waiting to strengthen our trust, deepen our faith and develop a closer relationship with Him.
The long season of singleness I had lasted about 8 years. On this side of things it doesn’t seem like it was very long though. (In light of eternity, it really isn’t). I hope that is an encouragement to you today because whatever you are experiencing right now will not last forever. Even if you are in a season of pain, disappointment, hurt or discouragement, there will be a day when that too shall pass. I know because I have been there too girlie!
There were days, weeks and even months where I felt hopeless and heartbroken. My hope of finding a husband was holding on by a very small thread.
In my limited understanding, I thought I would be married at 23 and start having a family at 25. Yet here I sit at 30 years old with a ring on my finger, recently engaged to a handsome godly man. Was my 25th birthday challenging when there was no husband, no fiance, no boyfriend and no prospects? Absolutely. Yet, even in those times I was sure that I wanted to wait for God’s best and not settle for anything less.
I see so many young women rush into a relationship for fear of being single. I see too many young women stay in a relationship for fear of being alone. God does not desire to give us a spirit of fear, but of hope, confidence and peace!
That lasting peace and abundant hope can only be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. The love you are looking for and the validation you are seeking can truly only be satisfied in the Lord. Our souls were created to have a relationship with our Creator.
Desiring a relationship is not a bad thing but searching after a relationship will all your time, energy, effort, heart, soul and strength will rob you.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.” (emphasis added)
Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Are you seeking after the Lord wholeheartedly or searching for a husband wholeheartedly?
